Love, Meet Lovelace

Heroin junkie, rock 'n' roll shrew and the all-around generally unpleasant Courtney Love is poised for a comeback to the big screen. The former lead singer of Hole is set to star as the lead in a biopic about the late Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace. Granted, it's kind of a stretch for Courtney to play someone of comparative class, decorum and wit, but still ...

Didn't you have an earlier post pondering the culpability of Yoko and Courtney? Granted, the bands were probably doomed anyway, but when you get the chance to blame Pshyco Broads you gotta jump on that bandwagon.
The question: Should I be ashamed for digging the first half of Celebrity Skin?
Of course, without Crazy Courtney, we wouldn't have those memory burns of Molly Shannon's lewd poses in neglige.

"Celebrity Skin" was one of the great albums of 1998. I refuse to credit Courtney with any of its success, though. Most of its greatness was thanks to Billy Corgan exercising his Lindsey Buckingham fetish.

I still think Alex Cox missed the boat in not giving Courtney the lead in "Sid and Nancy." But, in her own sick, foul way, I suppose she co-opted the role and turned it into the longest performance art piece in recent history.
