It is scary in a "future-tense" sort of way. Because shit COULD happen.

I, however, am more into historical horror. Like the bit where Americans twice selected, by whatever razor thin margin, George "The W. Stands for What the Fuck Am I Doing in Power" Bush as their elected leader.

It's like 50.1 percent of the voting public in America put their hands on the burner on the stove, pulled back in pain, and then decided to put their hands back on the burner while they figure out what hurt so bad.

Actually, Doc Pants, there is an increasing mountain of evidence that the current occupant of the White House was never elected by the voting public in America.
