Don't Speak, Jay

Talk about a conundrum. Because Jay Leno has been subpoenaed as a potential character witness on behalf of Michael Jackson, the "Tonight Show" host falls under a gag order that prevents him from discussing the trial.

A late-night talk-show host prohibited by law from cracking wise about the world's most notorious media circus? You know what that means: Not only will Leno's monologue be as stale as usual, but it will be untopical, too.

Indeed. It'd almost be worth watching to see if Leno could actually work for a laugh like he did 25 years ago...but come to think of it, all that archival footage that aired during the Carson memorializing showed Jay wasn't ever that funny. Never mind.
