Crumbs and Stuff

Here's a fascinating site. A project of the National Library of Medicine, this web site, TOXMAP, illustrates hazardous chemicals in communities across the United States.

An Iraq War veteran whose dramatic accounts of battlefield tragedy mesmerized high school audiences now admits that, well, it was kinda, sorta ... made up. Army Sgt. Dennis Edwards evidently dreamed up his harrowing tale about being forced to kill a 10-year-old boy after the child fired an AK-47. Edwards might not be much of an honest vet, but it sounds like he has a heck of a future in journalism.

Think twice before wearing that yellow Lance Armstrong bracelet if you've got surgery coming up. Apparently, in a number of hospitals they are identical to the DNR, or "do not resuscitate," wristbands placed on patients.

Sounds like Army Sgt. Dennis Edwards is ready for the New York Times.
